MVMTC Renews A2LA Accreditation

Thursday, December 26, 2013

Miami Valley Materials Testing Center is proud to announce our A2LA accreditation renewal. Being an A2LA certified testing laboratory enables us to deliver quality test results and an overall more positive environment for our clients.

Just what does A2LA mean?

Laboratory accreditation is designed to develop and determine technical competence. Specialized assessors conduct thorough evaluations of all factors that produce measureable data. The criteria are based on the internationally accepted standard ISO/IEC 17025 and other technical program requirements. The ISO/IEC standard is used specifically to assess factors relevant to the laboratories ability to output precise and accurate data, including:
  • technical competence of staff
  • validity and appropriateness of test methods
  • traceability of measurements and calibrations to national standards
  • suitability, calibration and maintenance of test equipment
  • testing environment
  • sampling, handling and transportation of test items
  • quality assurance of test and calibration data
(These same quality management factors are covered in the ISO 9001 registration.)

To ensure compliance, accredited laboratories must be re-assessed on a regular basis. These labs are also required to participate in regular proficiency testing as an on-going test of their competence.

How Does A2LA Directly Benefit You as the Client?

Minimizes Your Risk: The A2LA certification gives you a sense of confidence. You know you are choosing a technically competent laboratory that has a quality assurance system in place.

Avoids Retesting: Knowing that your product has been tested by an accredited laboratory allows your customers to feel a sense of security. This allows you to give your clients the products that they deserve.

Reduces Costs: By having your products tested by an A2LA certified lab your products will automatically gain international recognition for quality. With the ILAC Mutual Recognition Arrangement in place, data can be more readily accepted in overseas markets, which reduces or eliminates the cost of retesting a product in the import country.

Overall, accreditation gives laboratories the formal recognition that they are reliable, competent and offer services that are sure to meet your needs.
